About Us

Empowering Indigenous Entrepreneurs,
From Idea to Impact

The Wiitahnookiinitaw Tahshkayzing Entrepreneurship Centre (WTEC) is designed to support Indigenous entrepreneurs in building strong, sustainable ventures. We provide a space where Indigenous business owners and innovators can move from concept to growth, backed by tailored programs, expert mentorship, and meaningful connections across sectors.Every element of WTEC is built to serve Indigenous entrepreneurs, not by adapting existing systems, but by creating one that reflects the priorities, knowledge, and leadership of Indigenous communities.
Who We Are

Canada’s First Fully First Nations-Led Business Incubator

WTEC is Canada’s first entrepreneurship centre founded, led, and operated by First Nations leaders. Located in the heart of Treaty No. 1 Territory at 191 Broadway in downtown Winnipeg, WTEC brings together government, academic, and industry partners to fast-track access to capital, mentorship, and national and international networks. We are grounded in culture and designed for impact, creating an environment where Indigenous entrepreneurs can move with confidence from vision to venture. WTEC is a project of the Treaty One Development Corporation, created in collaboration with Treaty One Nations and key economic development partners.

What Sets Us Apart

We’re an Ecosystem for Indigenous Innovation

WTEC is unique in both structure and spirit. We’ve built a model that centres Indigenous entrepreneurs not just as participants in an economy but as drivers of one.

  • WTEC is the first First Nations-led entrepreneurship centre in Canada
  • We are supported by over 20 national and international partners
  • We operate from a central, purpose-designed space in Winnipeg
  • We offer access to a world-class network of mentors and business experts
  • Our programs are built specifically to serve First Nations entrepreneurs and communities

WTEC is more than a place to work. It’s a place to belong, to build, and to expand what’s possible. We’ve created an entrepreneurial ecosystem that meets Indigenous entrepreneurs where they are, and takes them where they want to go.
